WHO WE ARE.

We are passionate about swimming and helping others achieve their best.

Positive Swim Squad was formed in 2012 as a few small groups wanting to improve their swimming and get fit. The squad has since expanded dramatically with a common goal to push limits and participate in some of the world’s most challenging ocean swims, including Port to Pub and Rottnest Channel, English Channel, and Catalina Channel.

Squad members share a love for swimming, fun, and friendship, while enjoying the inspiration and motivation they get out of each session. They occasionally  enjoy trips to Lake Leschenaultia and Swim Retreats in Yallingup and Rottnest Island.

Our Rottnest Solo Program has successfully helped more than 600 swimmers to cross the channel, including double crossings, winter crossings, and a night crossing.

COACHES

Ceinwen Roberts

“Ceinwen motivates and keeps people going with her never-ending positive energy, great coaching skills, love for life, wicked sense of humour, and caring nature.”

Ceinwen has been swimming since five years of age, competing at the State and National Levels for eight years before moving to open water swim events. She has coached Juniors, State, and Squads since 1998 while also working as a personal trainer and in the Corporate Health sector.

Ceinwen has completed nearly 30 Solo Rottnest crossings, including a Triple Crossing in 2013. She has also completed the 25km Port to Pub Ultramarathon, English Channel Crossing, Manhattan Island Marathon Swim, Catalina Crossing, and Alcatraz Swim.

Ceinwen’s passion for swimming to Rottnest led her to co-found Port to Pub,  an open water swim event comprising two distances from Leighton Beach to Rottnest Island – a 19.7km direct crossing and a 25km ultramarathon. Port to Pub welcomes everyone from elite swimmers to those just starting to explore open water swimming. Since its inception in 2016, Port to Pub has grown into a world-class sporting event hosting up to 1,700 swimmers each year.

Zac Vinten

Zac Vinten would likely not have predicted his future as an experienced and reputable swim coach; as a child, he would hide his bathers to avoid having to get into the pool. At age nine he waved the white flag, joined Fremantle Swimming Club, and started competing.

Before joining Positive Swim Squad, Zac served as Juniors and Masters Head Coach as well as Head Swimming Coach at St Hildas Anglican School for Girls winning the Boans Trophy from 2013-2018. Now at Positive Swim Squad, he's known as "Fun Coach Zac," welcoming swimmers with jokes and energetic banter that successfully distract before laying down his favourite line, "let's get warmed up... time trials today!"

Zac has completed many Rottnest Channel crossings, including two as a Solo and three as a Duo. Zac still holds ties to his pool days and is a Master National Record Holder in the Under 30yrs 4 x 25m Freestyle Relay.

You'll hear Zac before you see him, and he is always around for a chat and to help improve on your swimming goals.
